heels to wheels baby shower

Meet my friend Amanda. I adore her. She is one of the sweetest people I know.
Every time I have the honor of hanging out with her, I just want to be around her more.
I think I secretly hope her sweetness will rub off on me.
Well, Amanda is preggers and my friends Elisa and Tiffany
had the JOY of throwing her a baby shower.
Our inspiration came from Ree Drumond aka The Pioneer Woman
(Amanda and I met her a few months back, read here).
You see like Ree, Amanda is a city girl at heart,
but fell in love with a cowboy and now lives in the country.
Ree recently wrote a book called Black Heels to Tractor Wheels (which is amazing FYI)
and we thought a similar theme would make for a FUN baby shower.

We were correct, just for the record.

The invitations were made from simple scrapbook paper.
On one side we had black/white patterned paper (city-ish)
and on the other side was a hay print (country-ish).
We asked the guests "Are you a City Girl or a Country Gal?"
AND asked them to dress accordingly.
Some "City Girls".
A few "Country Gals".

Elisa opened up her BEAUTIFUL home for the party.
The porch had hay bales and quilts for people to sit on (Elisa is an amazing quilt artist).

Flowers in a tin can and hung with fabric.

Boots and heels.
Boots and heels placed under the gift table.
The dinning area.

We offered a spread of "City Girl Appetizers".

Then we had "Country Gal Drinks and Desserts".

More boots and heels.

My mason jar obsession continues.

I found this John Deere plush tractor at Joann's and just couldn't resist.

Pioneer Woman's Best Chocolate Sheet Cake. Ever. Cupcake style.

Carmel corn.
Our friend Jen made cinnamon ice cream with caramel sauce and churros ALL homemade...
SO yummy!
 We played games-
1. Amanda's Heels to Wheels story where guests filled in the blanks to tell/learn about Amanda,
how she met Wes and their hopes for their child.
2. Montana vs. Illinois game where we learned fun/interesting facts about Amanda's 2 loves,
Chicago and the Flathead Valley.
3. Advice for the parents-to-be was read by the persons gift she was opening.

The big thing Amanda WON'T give up while living in the country is her Coach purses.
Some girls chipped in to get her a Coach diaper bag and she was BEYOND excited.
A few pictures turned into...
... supermodel documentary hour! We were all drying of laughter.

Then she borrowed some Coach glasses and there was no stopping her.
I think someone almost died at one point. Kidding.

As usual it was a LOVELY time with WONDERFUL friends!
